I’m not overly convinced by the Sunday Mail story. For a start why spend that money on the bricks when it would be better spent on the pitch? Secondly, in this economic climate, who has the money to throw about? Thirdly, hasn’t David Murray been trying to sell off his investment in Rangers for the last two years?

As you say, it’s a lot of money just to try and look bigger than Celtic, but for either team to try and expand the stadium just now is folly because it’ll only be full for European nights and Old Firm games. The rest of the time it won’t be full and that’s bad for the atmosphere.

Just to add: I’m not saying I don’t believe the SM tale (the reporter involved has a strong track record and is one of the country’s best) it just smacks of a ‘leaked’ document from Rangers.

Ach McGill, you’re just a bitter and twisted Celtic fan.

Next you’ll be telling us Swindon Town aren’t Barclays Premiership material :-)

I guess the rationale is that money spent on bricks and mortar brings in revenue, while players don’t necessarily. I’m not convinced they wouldn’t get bigger crowds for run-of-the-mill league games – the difficulty of getting a ticket puts lots of people off. They’d also be able to sell more season tickets – there is a waiting list. But it *is* a lot of money… of course, a viable stadium plan would make the club more valuable – not less. If Murray wants out, it would be a good idea to have one.

Mr Milne – we are going up, say we are going up – with Mighty Mo’ Malpas at the helm. Really.
