More pre-launch stuff on the new Guardian, which appears on Monday. This time, from Press Gazette:

“Alan Rusbridger is gambling £80m of his employers’ cash, his own job and those of his staff and the future of a 184- year-old liberal institution on changing The Guardian to a format never before used by a UK national.”

Indeed.

But the piece does a good job of describing how the new paper hangs together, and its stunning good looks. It really looks like no other paper you’ve seen before. It’s a gamble, for sure, but when you cast a look at the wreckage of the tabloid Times, it’s exactly the right one to make.

It does sound quite revolutionary and very Guardian, which is great.

One thing that has intrigued me about the launch is how well it’s been kept under wraps. You would have thought at some point someone would have leaked a photo onto the net. I haven’t actively looked for a leaked snap, but just wondered have all Guardian staffers had a chance to see the new design? If yes, was it under armed guard, following a strip search and rectal examination?
